Yesterday, I discovered what I want to be the guiding principle behind my work.
To create clothes that people never want to let go of.
But how do I turn that idea into something tangible?
One answer, I believe, is to create with as much care and consideration as possible.
And it all begins with the fabric.
At Aiguille & Ito, I seek out materials from French and European textile manufacturers that continue to uphold a high standard of quality and craftsmanship.
My first choice is always France.
If I cannot find the ideal fabric there, I will expand my search to neighboring European countries and, if necessary, to other parts of Europe.
The reason is simple: the farther materials travel, the greater the amount of CO₂ emissions generated during transportation.
For that reason, I currently have no plans to import fabrics from Asia.
This is one of the ways I try to be mindful of the environment in my own small way.
Of course, once the garments are finished, transporting them from France to Japan will inevitably require shipping or air freight.
That process will generate CO₂ emissions, and there is no way around that.
I fully understand that as long as products are being transported from France to Japan, it is impossible to eliminate their environmental impact completely.
That is precisely why I want to source materials as locally as possible and keep transportation distances short wherever I can.
By doing so, I hope to maintain a better overall balance and reduce the project’s environmental footprint as much as possible.
It may not be a perfect solution.
Even so, I believe in taking small, thoughtful steps and doing what I can, one choice at a time.
My goal is to continue seeking a balance between responsible production and environmental awareness.
Ideally, I would love to sell my garments in France.
However, I do not yet have the distribution network necessary to make that possible.
That is why I have chosen to begin by bringing them to Japan.
But there is another reason I want to export my creations there.
I want to share a piece of French culture through clothing.
Japan, surrounded by the sea, is geographically far from Europe.
Yet in today’s increasingly connected world, I believe it is more important than ever to experience different cultures and perspectives.
I deeply love Japanese culture.
At the same time, living in France has introduced me to a different sense of beauty, different values, and a way of thinking that continues to inspire me every day.
That is why, as a Japanese woman living in France, I hope to build a bridge between these two worlds.
To honor Japanese culture while sharing the beauty of French culture and craftsmanship.
This is the spirit behind the concept I am currently developing:
“Bringing Made in France to Japan.”
My reflections on care and consideration do not end here.
For today, I will leave it there.
I look forward to sharing more with you in my next article.
Aiguille & Ito, the brand I am creating, is gradually taking shape as I prepare for its launch.
The project is still in its early stages, but each step is being built with care and intention. My hope is that one day, the values, reflections, and universe I share here will come to life through the clothes I create.
As this journey unfolds, I would love to continue sharing its behind-the-scenes moments with you, along with the thoughts, inspirations, and discoveries that guide me along the way.
When the brand officially launches, I also look forward to sharing its growth in real time through Instagram Lives and other opportunities to connect and exchange with you.
At the moment, my goal is to reach 1,000 followers on Instagram.
If my universe resonates with you, a simple like, follow, or share would mean the world to me and would be a wonderful encouragement as I continue this adventure.
